The San Francisco Pottery, trading as Cerámica Castillo Siles s.l., is a Granada based company that specialisses in the manufacture of construction material and whose roots are firmly embedded in family tradition.

Our products are both functional end decorative, this duality is due to the finish of the individual pieces which we achieve by following a traditional manufacturing process that has remained unchanged through time. This process begins with the preparation of the clay "El Desajelo", which prevents small lime deposits causing chipping to occur in the kilm. This is followed by the preparation of the enamels according to family formulas.

The third step is the moulding by hand of our bricks and floor tiles and the process ends with the firing of the prepared pieces in our kiln the design of which dates back to the days of the moorish occupation of southern Spain. The end result of this process is that we produce individual objets tnat are totally different from the mass produced identical ones that we are accustomed to seeing nowadays. Irregular surfaces, distinctive colour tones in unglazed pieces and the creamy whites (arabic white) and intensive blues and greens of the crazed ones with their metalic crints.

Our products have been used in the reconstruction worn carried out on such national monuments as the Alhambra, Hospital Real, La Basilica de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias and El Corral del Carbón here in Granada and La Mezquita in Córdoba. The use of our products in projects so representative of our national history is proof of the quality and durability of such a noble material as clay.
